چکیده

High-resolution radars (HRR) using ultra wideband (UWB) signals is a promising system for various detection and ranging applications. The radar resolution increases as a decrease of the pulse width, then radar echoes including background unwanted ones become spiky. Various modifications of constant false alarm rate (CFAR) and matched filters have been proposed to reduce false alarm induced by unwanted radar echos (clutter), but the target shape information diminishes due to exploitations based on range-bin processing. In this paper, a method of suppressing clutter with the reception power conversion is proposed. Novel categories of reflection objects with their existence probabilities are introduced and the characteristic function method is used for efficiently obtaining the power conversion table on a computer. Keywords—UWB radar, HRR (high-resolution radar), radar clutter, power conversion, target-existence probability

Adaptive Thresholding in Marine RADARs

In order to detect targets upon sea surface or near it, marine radars should be capable of distinguishing signals of target reflections from the sea clutter. Our proposed method in this paper relates to detection of dissimilar marine targets in an inhomogeneous environment with clutter and non-stationary noises, and is based on adaptive thresholding determination methods. The variance and t...

A CFAR Circuit of Detecting Spatially Correlated Target for Automotive UWB Radars

Automotive radars for potential accident reduction and for autonomous cruse control were available in 1999, and 77 GHz long-range radars and 24 GHz short-range radars are developing [1]. 79-GHz shortrange automotive radars have a bandwidth of 4 GHz, a maximum range of 30 m, and a range resolution of 5 cm. Radar reception signals often contain unwanted echoes, called “radar clutter.” Moving targ...

A CFAR Circuit with Multiple Detection Cells for Automotive UWB Radars

Future high-resolution short-range automotive radar will have a higher false alarm probability than the conventional low-resolution radar has. In a high-resolution radar, the reception signal becomes sensitive to the difference between intended and unintended objects. However, automotive radars must distinguish targets from background objects that are the same order of size; it leads to an incr...

Effect of Curved Path Monopulse Radar Platform’s Grazing Angle on Height of Floated Targets Detection

Monopulse radarsare one of the most accurate tracking radars used to guide various platforms. Detection and tracking of surface targets with these radars are performed in order to point strike targets. Sea clutter presents challenges for detecting floated targets and in addition to affecting detection height, it can cause errors in monopulse angle finding. In this paper, the airborne monopulse ...

A High-Resolution Imaging Algorithm without Derivatives Based on Waveform Estimation for UWB Radars

UWB pulse radars enable us to measure a target location with high range-resolution, and so are applicable for measurement systems for robots and automobile. We have already proposed a robust and fast imaging algorithm with an envelope of circles, which is suitable for these applications. In this method, we determine time delays from received signals with the matched filter for a transmitted wav...
